The first batch, 50 student pass out from the NISFT

Shillong Dec 10: The National Institute of Fashion Technology conducted the 1st convocation for the fifty students from the first batch who graduated from the institute. The convention was held at the Convention hall, NEHU Campus on Monday.

The fifty students completed their four years of studying in the bachelor degree courses of fashion technology from the institute.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahary lauded the students who pursued the course as it can be their career.

While encouraging them to develop their skills for future endeavour the Governor said that people involved in the making of fashion should inculcate essential factors which includes proportion, simplicity, style and spontaneity which formed the base of elegance.

Further elaborating about fashion Mooshahary said fashion alone cannot make a person beautiful as fashion should go accordingly with style.

“Fashion may fail but style is immortal” the governor said adding that fashion is extrinsive but style is intrinsive,

Besides he also said that one can design fashion but not style, fashion can be bought but style one must possess.

While encouraging the newly graduates to pursue their career in their best possible ways the governor pointed out that they should not think that they were creating a trend but they should think that they create elegance.

He also urged them that while they pursue their career they should use their hands, brains and their heart and using these three important components will make them become artists in fashion. However he said that their fashion should not be something that is pleasing the eye of the onlooker.

“You should be able to bring fame, you should be able to bring about a change through your hard work”, the governor said.

Earlier, Minister incharge of forest Prestone Tynsong lamented over the increasing number of youths in different profession often went outside the state and work in other parts of the country.

“The state has lots of talents however most of the youth do not prefer to serve their own state, this creates brain drain”, Tynsong said.

He therefore urged upon the youth to serve their state so that it will bring in development to the state as a whole.

Meanwhile, the minister administer the convention pledge which is being followed by the the newly graduate students.(SP News)
