Shillong, Feb 01: A football tournament was today organized at Jongsha village Mawkynrew constituency under the aegis of the Mawkynrew Constituency Football Club with a moto “To build for a brighter tomorrow”.
The tournament was open by the chief guest C Lyngdoh, Additional Commissioner cum Secretary for State Transport. Speaking as the chief guest in the gathering, he said, “Villages like these should be promoted, especially in this field where there is no dearth of talent”.
Kyntiewlang Buhphang Adviser to the club said that the aim of organizing this tournament is promote the game of football in the constituency especially when there are talents in the constituency. It maybe mentions that this tournament is the 1st of its kind to be organized in the constituency. However, there are altogether 24 teams participating in the in the tournament, the 1st match was played between Mawsir and Rapleng village respectively, where Rapleng village won the match by a tie- breaker. The final match of the tournament is scheduled to take place on the 22nd February this year.(SP News)
