Shillong, August 20: The Khasi jaintia Presbyterian Assembly (KJPA) today has organized the symposium on how to standarnised and bring uniformity in the spelling in khasi language which is the need of the hours.
In the symposium there are two papers parented by the two prominent personalities Rev JTRS Mawklot and Dr Badaplin War who presented their papers . Both of them have put their own point of views in there paper that was held today and try to explain what they have in mind.
Dr Badaplin pointed out in her paper presentation she said that their should be an authority to scrutinized and keep the final decision that the spelling should be like this or what ever may be. At present all the khasi book writers write in their on way of style and the spelling is different from one to the others.
In the open discussion, many has express their views that the need of the hours is to have an authority who has the legal sanction through legislation. They even said that the state government should have established the State Sabha Academy.
The others views it said that at present there are five school of thought which have emerge in the khasi writing, the Presbyterian, The Seng khasi, Khasi Author Society, the Catholic and the Khasi department of the North Eastern Hills University.
All these school of thought have their on way spelling in the khasi language which really hampers the academic studies of the student right from the school level up to the university level.
The conclusion that emerges from the symposium is that there is a need that spelling in the khasi language needs to bring uniformity. The KJPA fill that the matter will take to the Synod to decided on haw to go ahead in solving these critical issue in the khasi language.(SP News)
