The General Secretary Ma.mong Manda Mahari Ku-monggrikani clan said Dr Mukul Sangma ia a Garo Tribe: Lonerson Ch Marak

Shillong August 19: The Ma.mong Manda Mahari Ku-monggrikani clan reacting to the news item published by the All North East Indigenous Garo Law Promoter Asmclaoon (ANEIGLPA), Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, the General Secretary of the clan Lonerson Ch Marak on behalf of the clan has issued the press statement saying that Dr Mukul Sangma is a Garo.

In the press statement Lonerson Ch Marak said that the All North East Indigenous Garo Law Promoter Asmclaoon (ANEIGLPA), Williamnagar, East Garo Hills has published on one Garo News Paper and the English News paper published from Shillong on 16th  June, 2013 and 4th July, 2013  alleging that Dr. Mukul M. Sangma, Ho’rable Chief Minister of Meghalaya is not a “Garo Community” and does not belong to “Scheduled Tribe” and that only for obtaining ST Certificate, he has written the “Sangma” clan (mahari). Regarding the allegation, the 27 Units of Manda Mahari Ku.monggrikani of Garo Hills affiliated with Mamong Manda Mahari Kumonggrikani (Central Manda Clan Association) Headquarter: Tura (Meghalaya), West Garo Hills in its Emergent Executive Committee meeting held on 131h July, 2013 at Williamnagar, East Garo Hills strongly condemned the allegation made by the ANEIGLPA that allegations are totally baseless and not true and designed to malign the image of the person.

The Ma-Mong-Manda  Mahari  Ku-monggrikari ia aware of the fact  and orgin of Dr Mukul M Sangma relaring to his parents, place of birth, education benning from the lower primary School and his. Clan [Mahari) since when he has written Manda (M) Sangma.

Shri Binoy Bushan M. Marak was married to Smti (Lt) Roshanara Begum (parent of Dr. Mukul M. Sangma at village Murchapani, Garo Hills in the year 1960, according to Christian Marriage Act, administered by Lt. Asin D. Shira, Ex-Pastor of Ampati Baptist church and declared as husband and wife. After her baptism and marriage, Smti Roashanara Begun was ex-communicated by her relatives. After their marriage, Smti (Lt.) Roshanara Begum was then legally adopted on 26-06-1960 by Smti (Lt) Rakmi Manda Sangma and her husband Shri (Lt.) Gosin Ch. Marak of village Bandalkona Garo Hills (Assam) presently under South West Garo Hills, Ampati as one of their legal daughter according to Culture of the Garos. They have also been made a Deed of Agreement of adoption and put their signatures and thumb impressions in presence of all family members and their close relatives. Since the date of adoption, Smti (Lt) Roshanara Begum has become a legal daughter of Smti (Lt) Rakmi Manda Sangma and Shri (Lt.) Gosin Ch. Marak and changed her Title from Begum to “Manda” Sangma and Smti (Lt) Roshanara Begum become a member “Manda” clan (Mahari).

Dr. Mukul M. Sangrna is the third son of Shri Binoy Bushan Maji Marak and Smti (Lt) RoshanaraBegum Manda Sangma of village Ampati, South West Garo Hills, born in Manda Mahari family, and from the beginning he studied in Ampati Govt. Lower Primary School and written his clan (mahari) as M. Sangma from Primary School and recognized him as Shri Mukul M. Sangma in Schools, Colleges and all Government Offices.

Hence, on completion the H. E. School and passing the HSLC Examination from Ampati H. E. School, theHeadmaster of the school has issue the character certificate  recognizing as Shri Mukul M Sangma.

Therefore, it is reiterated that Dr. Mukul M. Sangma and all his brother and sisters are born and broughtup in Manda Mahari family, they are all Garos and “Manda” Sangma by birth and belong to Scheduled Tribe by virtue and they are all registered Members of the “Ma,mong Manda Mahari Ku.monggrikani” (Central Manda Clan Association) Headquarter: Tura (Meghalaya), West Garo Hills.
