Tura, Feb 10: The project director of district rural development agency (DRDA), South Garo Hills was today fired by suspected militants at Rongdotchi, near Baghmara, about 100 km from here.
ADM Ashish M Sangma’s Bolero vehicle was hit by bullets, however, he escaped unharmed.
South Garo Hills deputy commissioner, Chinmay P Gotmare said, “The ADM was attacked by militants, while he was on his way from Tura to Baghmara”. The incident took place around 11:45 am.
Police suspect it to be a handiwork of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA). Gotmare said, “Three rounds were fired upon by two militants, one of the bullet hit the rear side of the Bolero”. He also told that the two militants, dressed in camouflage had asked them to stop, however, they refused to do so. (SP News)
