New Delhi May 06: The Govt. of India has announced a fiscal package of incentives namely North East Industrial Policy (NEIP), 1997 for development of industries in North Eastern Region. A fresh package of incentives has been announced under North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIP), 2007 to give further boost to industrialization in NE Region.
Benefits available under NEIIP, 2007 include Central Capital Investment Subsidy, Central Interest Subsidy, Central Comprehensive Insurance Subsidy and Tax concessions/excise duty benefits. Additionally, the govt. is also providing Transport Subsidy on transportation of raw materials/finished goods.
During the year 2012-13, the funds released to the NE Region under Transport Subsidy was Rs.215.57 crores, Capital Investment Subsidy Rs.86.1 crore, Central Interest Subsidy Rs.13.7 crore, being a total of Rs.315.37 crores. The amount disbursed to the beneficiary industrial units upto February 28, 2013 are Rs.830 crores under Transport Subsidy, Rs.153 crores under Capital Investment Subsidy, Rs. 53.92 crores under Central Interest Subsidy, Rs.4 crores under Comprehensive Insurance Scheme and Rs.0.05 crores under other schemes for NE, being a total of Rs.1040.97 crores.
