Shillong, August 10: The Chief minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul Sangma said that the government will implement the Food Security Ordinance, the flagship and ambitious programme of the UPA II of the central government with the stipulated time frame.
The government of Meghalaya has decided that they will supply three rupees rice per kg to all selected families who are eligible. According to the ordinance each person is entitle 5kg of rice if the beneficiaries dir not received the food grain he or she is entitle to be compensate in the form of cash.
Addressing the media at the Congress Bhavan today he said that the government is working hard to implement the scheme in a time bound manner. The sixty days time given to the supply department to prepared the list of the beneficiaries start from today.
After having the list the government will given ten days time to people to check whether their name are their in the list and at the same time to allowed people for claim and counter claim after that the final list will be published.
The people who will be benefited from the schemes are 76.7% in the rural areas and 63% in the urban areas. The selection process or identification is base on their income level will start from the lower level and will go up wards till we reached the target fixed.(SP News)
