Shillong, August 15: The 67th Independence Day Celebration in Meghalaya passes off peacefully with out any incident. People from all work of life participate in this day to commemorate that on this day India is free from foreign yoke.
The Director General of Police Peter Hanneman told SP News Agency that the Independence Day which celebrated today passes off peace fully there is not report of any incident.
The Meghalaya police have beef up elaborate security arrangement to see that no untoward incident take place on this Independence Day celebration.
In the Khasi and Jaintia Hills people come out from their houses and participate at the Celebration of Independence at Polo Ground where the government function was held. In spite of heavy rain people are eagerly listen to the Chief Ministers speech eagerly.
Though no incident took place but the capital Shillong was affected due to the bandh call by the HNLC militant. Business established were close and normal life was affected in the Capital.(SP News)
