Shillong, May 29: The Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council (KHADC) today made a surprise checking to the Non Tribal shop at Iewduh, in this random checking found that 39 shop did not have valid trading license from the KHADC.
Checking was done personally by the Executive Members In charge Trade Mr Latiplang Kharkongor along with the official from the office. The reason for closing down these 39 shops is that the shop owners did not comply with the norms frames by the KHADC.
Speaking to media person Mr Latiplang said that the KHADC so far has issued 6275 trading license to the non tribal under the jurisdiction of the KHADC. The Executive Committee has taken the decision that all trades that can be done by the Khasi the KHADC will no longer issued trading licensees to the Non tribal.
The KHADC will issue trading licenses only in thus trade where the khasi cannot do in that particular business. The EC has taken theses decision in order to protect the interest of the tribal people in their business.(SP News)
