The KWWADA, CSWO will hold demonstration at Additional Secretariat

Shillong, Sept 22: The KWWADA( Khasi Women Welfare and Development Association) Shillong, Meghalaya and the CSWO ( Civil Society Women Organization), Meghalaya, have decided to hold a sit in demonstration in the Addl Sect Parking lot, at Shillong, on the 25 th Sept 2013 to protest the adamant attitude of the Government, with regards to the legitimate demand of the various organizations on the ILP recommended by the High Level Committee, which was initiated by the Government itself.

This decision was taken today the 22 nd Sept 2013 in the residence of Smt A Kharshiing and it was decided that the KWWADA President Kong Nebi Rapthap and Kong Agnes Kharshiing will initiate the sit in demonstration and the two Women NGO’s invite all the Traditional  leaders  who are concerned about the welfare of the society and the alienation of land , the many Seng Kynthei’s from all over, the many youth who are facing biasness in getting jobs, the religious leaders, and also the people of the State, who feel that the adamant attitude of the Government is a very wrong sign of Governance and which leads to dictatorship.

We also invite the many elderly leaders, both men and women, the retired Government servants, who can provide input and insight, to join the sit in, so that we stray the political dictatorship into realizing that the power lies with the people. We are aware of the deteriorating system of Governance, which is a big threat to the society and the generation, the inflation of essential items which hit hard the common man, ,the loss of Tribal land, the law being unequal.

The youth being illegally deprived of their right to work, the abuse of power by many in Governance, the invasion by dubious companies, the substandard development, and this is accumulating as the days go by and we feel that the adamant attitude of the Government is a slap to Democracy and we cannot allow that.

As the Constitution has provided in Article 19 (1) that all citizens shall have the right to assemble peaceably, the two organizations have taken this move of having a sit in demonstration as a mark of protest on the 25 th Sept 2013 from 11 AM to 3 PM, and the Government servants serving for the State have to oblige, the press statement said.(SP News)
