The MCTA expressed their gratitude to the MUA II for releasing their arrears

 

Shillong, July 4:  The declaration to release the pending eighty percent arrears amounting to forty seven crores for college teacher made by the state chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma has come as a relief to all serving college teachers in the state who even lauded him for listening to their legitimate and genuine demands.

The announcement made by the Dr Mukul Sangma on July 3  has relief the college teachers under the banner of the Meghalaya College Teachers Association (MCTA) who even expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the chief minister who have taken keen interest in responding to their demand however, the Association awaits for the order to be issued soon.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday Dr BH Buam MCTA president informed that on April 5 last the association met with the chief minister to discuss on the issue and the chief minister had even promised to release the arrear by the end of June.

Though the teachers have not received their dues by the end of June as promised by the Chief minister but his announcement which came on July 3 is being appreciated.

“It is because of his sympathetic and positive attitude that has made us to be patient for we believe that his words are trustworthy,” Buam said.

Besides, she also said that this is the first time that the chief minister will take the initiative to address to their issues.

Further, the association also expressed their gratitude to the MUA II to release the remaining 80 percent arrears which would be of great help to mitigate the hardships faced by teachers especially those who retired penniless as they do not get pension and ailing teachers.

Meanwhile, the association strongly believed that the kind act of the government would not only serve the interest of aggrieved teachers but for the cause of higher education in the state. (SP News)
