The Meghalaya people mist the Christmas sugar festival

Shillong, Dec 22: Within two day Meghalaya which consider as a Christian state will celebrate Christmas with joy, but the people of Meghalaya at this festival will mist the Christmas sugar which the government is not able to supply which the people  use to get earlier through fair price shop dealers during the Christmas.

The Government of Meghalaya through the Directorate of Food civil Supply and consumer department has call for the tender only on the 6th of November last month, and the tender was open only on the 11th of this month.

Sources told SP News Agency that the department has not selected the supplier and the people of Meghalaya will not get the festive sugar which they used to get in the past. The people will have to by form the open market at the higher price.

Since the government of India has decontrol the sugar, it deepen on the state government to procure sugars from the sugar mill and distribute to the people at the price fix by the government of India.

Since Meghalaya is not a sugar producing state it has to procured from others state which make the department more difficult and the reimbursement that the government of India will give to the state government is not sufficient which the extra cost the state government has to bear it.(SP News)
