In the press statement the HNLC said that there are various reasons behind the boycott call by the council.67 years had passed since india had claimed its independence but our status had been as of slaves. The government of india had forcefully signed the instrument of accession and Anexed agreement 1948 at gunpoint without the consent of the durbar hima and the syiems.
The HNLC said that Election time is a time when corruption is at its peak level.Big industrialists fund politicians to meet high cost of election and ultimately to seek personal favour. Bribery to politicians buy influences and bribery by politician buy votes .In order to get elected, politicians bribe poor illiterate people of our Hynniewtrep, who are slogging for two times meal a day.
The HNLC has name few politician like Suresh kalmadi , A.Raja, Mayawati ,Madhu koda, Karunanidhi,Jayalalitha , Mulayan sing yadav ,BS Yedurappa etc, the HNLC said these are among the top alleged the HNLC.
The delay in implementing the ILP By the Government has in fact made the council more stronger, because educated youths who have been affected by the system have joined hands with the council. The longer the government takes time to implement the ILP the stronger will the council emerge.
The election of MPs are just a ploy of the GOI to creates more puppets in order to represent the parliament according to their personal self interests. The HNLC would like to appeal to the people of Hynñiewtrep to boycott the drama of elections enacted by the government of india.
Keeping in mind the above factors, the HNLC would observe a total shutdown of all the entire khasi and jaintia hills on the 9 of April starting from 5am to 5pm. Media persons, medical patients, ambulance services, religeous ceremonies will exempted from the purview of this 12hour shutdown, said Saiñkupar Nongtraw Publicity Secretary,HNLC.(SP News)
