Shillong, March 13: The National Council of Churches ( NCC) India is saddened to hear of thereports of a hundred homes being torched in a Christian enclave of the Pakistani city of Lahore. We share the pain and sorrow of all the families whohave been victimized and made to bear the brunt of the communal violence of the perpetrators.
We express our solidarity with all the families who have been afflicted and traumatized by the recent incident and also our togetherness with all Christians in Pakistan as they continually face hardships in the country where they constitute a vulnerable minority community.
We pray that God would give you the needed strength to bear the suffering, the courage to remain faithful to your calling as Christians, and the determination to campaign for your rights. We join Christian communities, leaders and human rights activists around the world in voicing our strong concern against the continuing abuse and exploitation of the Blasphemy Law to oppress any religious minority.(SP News)
