The NGO was surprise to see the government has no record on Luckier Road

 

Shillong,  July 29: The Khasi Student Union, (KSU) The Federation of Khasi Jiantia and Garo People (FKJGP) along with the synjuk ki rangbah Shong met the   Revenue minister  Dr R C Laloo and asked the state  Government  to take it over the land at Luckiar Road which is about 3 Ackers fro public purposes.

In the memorandum submitted to the  Minister  said that the Cantonment Board has transfer  to the state government  in 2000. Late Chief Minister  E K Mawlong has taken the initiative but since his government collapse the matter is kept pending till date.

The  general Secretary  of the  FKJGP Wilbert  Rani said that  the Defence authority has given this land to the state government in 2000 but since the lease given to Late J N Bawari expired only on 2005 and the Cantonment board  did  not renew the lease.

What made the NGO’s surprise about this is that the state government has no document about this land. In this meeting with the Revenue minister from the NGO’s they have demanded that the state government should take position of this land for public purpose. (SP News)
