Mumbai, March 25: The Press Club, Mumbai invites entries for the prestigious ‘National RedInk Awards for Excellence in Journalism – 2014’. The Journalism Awards have been instituted to promote best practices among journalists and encourage good quality writing, fair play and high ethical standards.
In the fourth year now, the RedInk Awards have been expanded and restructured this year to include important areas like ‘human rights’ as well as to draw a distinction between ‘breaking news’ of the day from the long-form, analytical writing of the magazine variety.
To honour those who have contributed to develop and strengthen the profession, there will also be a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’. Public responses will be elicited and taken into consideration.
For details regarding the various categories of awards, contest rules and to download the entry form, log on towww.redinkawards.com. Journalists from Meghalaya may also collect details from Shillong Press Club. The last date for entries is April 15th 2014.
Winners in each category will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000, a trophy and a citation. A distinguished panel of judges in each category, appointed by The Press Club, will decide the winners. The winners will be honoured at an Awards Ceremony, to be held in Mumbai after the judges announce their selection.
Last year, the RedInk Awards received more than a 1,000 applications. The Awards Ceremonies have been distinguished events attended by 800 journalists and media persons and marked by serious debate about the future of journalism and government policy towards media. Important dignitaries such as the Union Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal and Information & Broadcasting minister Manish Tewari have presided over these events and taken heed of media and professional issues. This year, the RedInk Awards promise to have many more participants, and the Awards event will be bigger and better in the years gone by.
The Press Club urges Editors/Media Heads to share this Awards information with their teams as also to mark out and nominate articles for consideration under each category. We thank you for your time and interest and look forward to further elevating this platform with your participation, in the statement issued by the general secretary press club Mumbai.(SP News)
