Shillong, Sept 18: A 3-day Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman programmes of the Central govt. was inaugurated today at Tynring Football grounds, E. Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya by Shri David Nongrum, MLA and Chairman, Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation. In his speech, he praised the PIB and the Central Media Units for organising the campaign in cooperation with the State govt departments to inform about the Central Flagship schemes to the people. Shri Nongrum also inaugurated the DAVP stalls.
The campaign was held by the Central Media Units like PIB, DFP, DAVP, AIR and DDK in cooperation with the District Administration, E. Khasi Hills District. Exhibition stalls were put up by departments like Dte. of Field Publicity, Dte. of Advt & Visual Publicity, ICDS, Soil & Water Conservation, District Water & Sanitation Mission, NRHM, Community & Rural Development.
At the technical session, Smt. K.B. Jyrwa, Block Mission Coordinator, spoke on distribution of free textbooks, enrolment of students especially children with disability under SSA. Dr. C. Budnah, SM&HO, I/C Diengpasoh PHC spoke on measures to control both communicable and non-communicable diseases under NRHM.
Others who spoke on the occasion, were Shri A.S. Mukhim, BDO, Mawryngkneng C&RD Block on MGNREGS, Shri M.L. Lawai, EE (Water Resources), SDO, Shillong, Smt. Meera Kharkongor, Project Officer, Mawryngkneng ICDS, Dr. P. Dohtdong, D&MO, E. Khasi Hills, Shri Iban Swer, Deptt. of Soil & Water Conservation, Smt. C.D. Lyngwa, ADC, while the welcome address and vote of thanks was given by Shri N.J. Saikia, M&CO, PIB, Shillong.(SP News)
