Mawphlang, Oct 23: The preparation for the Monolith Festival at Mawphlang just 21 km away from shillong is completed and ready to welcome all the people to participate in the two day festival that will begin on Friday.
The CEM of the KHADC which is the main sponsor of the festival today he (Pynshngian Syiem) personally visited the site for inspection to see that every thing is on place.
Talking to reporters on the venue he said that the objective of have this Monolith festival is to show case to the world that we the khasi have our own culture and tradition. In this two days festival all the culture of different elaka will be display.
The CEM also clarified that the land was donated by the Mawphlang Elaka to the KHADC free of cost, but the understanding was made between the KHADC and the Hima Mawphlang that in future the revenue collection from the area will be share in percentage bases.
The CEM appleal to all section of people to come and witness the two day festival where the different culture of the khasi will be display in the festival. The festival will be ingurated by the Union minister for tribal affair.
