Shillong, Jan 10: The 13 social organisations spearheading the demand for the implementation of the Eastern Bengal Frontier Regulation Act 1873 or the Inner Line Permit, so on the meeting held on 10 January 2014, the 13 Orgns has decided to welcomed the invitation of the Government of Meghalaya for discuss on the issue of Influx in the state.
Since the Govt is insisting for discussion with an open mind, we are also willing to participate in the discussion with an open mind provided the govt in the recent statement of the Chief Minister has clearly stated that the member of the social organizations can move freely but unfortunately till date the Police Department have not stopped their raids and arrest of the members of different organizations.
So we would like to state that, at this juncture we need all the member to participate in the decision making and in the discussion process, since we will not be able to come to a decision without a proper quorum, So we feel that the police department must be directed by the state govt to resist from such activities so that we can actively participate in the discussion on the 15 of Jan 2014.
The Govt should also in a gesture of good faith begin the process by releasing all the arrested members of all the different organizations without further delay. On behalf of the 13 social organization Fredrick Kharmawphlang Vice President KSU.(SP News)
