Shillong, Sept 20: The Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman programmes of the Central government concluded today at Tynring grounds, E. Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. The programme was organized by the Central Media Units like PIB, DFP, DAVP, AIR & DDK in collaboration with the District Administration, E. Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya to inform the people about the various development activities being implemented by the government for their welfare. During the campaign, seminars and interactive sessions were held and exhibition stalls by various govt. departments were put up on the occasion.
At the technical session, Smt. Meera Kharkongor, Project Officer, ICDS said that the main activities are on Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) for children upto 6 years, pregnant & nursing mothers, adolescent girls. There is non-formal pre-school education (PSE) for 3-6 years children, immunization programme, health check-up, Nutrition and Health Education (NHED) and Referral Services. The Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls (RGSEAG) is also being implemented.
The other speakers were Smt. Lin Warjri, DWSM, PHE who spoke on Total Sanitation Campaign, Shri A. Kharduid, Block Programme Manager, Mawryngkneng Block on NRHM and Shri C.A. Diengdoh, Sirdar, Tynring, who thanked the Central Media Units for organizing the PIC and urged the people to know about the Central schemes so that they can avail of these schemes. Shri N.J. Saikia, M&CO, PIB, Shillong gave the vote of thanks. The programme was followed by a Healthy Baby Show prize distribution by the Deptt. of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Meghalaya.(SP News)
