Shillong, Oct 24: ICARE wishes to clarify that it stands committed in its opposition to bandhs and other forms of agitation that adversely affect the rhythm of life especially that of the poor , the marginalised , the students and the daily wage earner.
The Public Gathering at Khynndailad on the 21st of this month is a testimony to that commitment, ICARE has nothing to say about the issues or differences that groups have with the Govt. Its stand is simple. In such confrontations the innocent public should not be made the scape goat.
ICARE also would like to clarify that permission from the District Authority was sought and received for holding the Public Gathering at Khynndailad on the 21st. The gathering started at 10.30 am and ended at 12.30 pm.
The ICARE further wish to clarify that the Public Gathering at Khynndailad was an independent ICARE initiative on its own. It was neither sponsored by the Govt nor by any other agency. The musical concert conducted on another platform on the same day and venue was not an ICARE initiative said Toki Blah in his press statement.(SP News)
