Shillong, August 23: The Shillong Press Club wishes to express its strong resent on the barbaric sexual assault of a lady photo journalist on August 22, 2013 by a group of criminals as well as physical assault of her male colleagues. It is indeed very sad and shocking that even journalists are no longer safe from such crimes in this enlightened day and age.
While condemning the assault in the strongest terms, the Shillong Press Club expresses its solidarity with the victims and urges upon the Government of Maharashtra to take immediate measures to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous crime and ensure that expeditious justice is meted out to them as per the law of the land.
The Shillong Press Club also extends its sympathies to family members of the victim and prays to the Almighty for their speedy recovery both physically and mentally(SP News)
