The State government has asked sixth additional companies of central forces to tackle militancy in Garo Hills

Shillong, June 04: The Meghalaya State Government has written to the Home Ministry government of India to deploy sixth additional company of central forces to the state in order to tackle the militancy problem in Garo Hills region.

In the letter written to the central government the state government did not mention any specific force, but the state government wants either the CrPF or the BSF if it’s available with the central government. The substitution in Garo Hills is alarming with the mushrooming of militant in that tiny region.

Sources  told SP News Agency that, when this sixth additional company arrived in the state with a week or two, they will be deploy mostly in East Garo Hills District and port of the West Khasi Khasi Hills and South west Khasi District.

The existing forces that the state have is not sufficient to deal in curbing the militancy activities in the state since the strength of the Meghalaya police is not sufficient even to deal  with the daily activities  that the police personal has to carried.

This sixth additional Company they will be use only for curtailing militancy activities in the state. The state government is very much aware about the militancy activities that is going on in Garo Hills but with insufficient forces  that the state have  is difficult to control in such inhospitable terrain.
