Shillong, Oct 08: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma during question hour of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has admitted that “the state Government has received advice from the Union Government to mutually and amicably settle the boundary issue.”
Replying during question hour the chief minister said following which “a meeting between chief secretaries of Assam and Meghalaya was held on 24 May 2012, where it was agreed, interalia, that since Meghalaya has furnish the required documentary materials, the Assam Government will respond shortly.”
Asked whether Government of Meghalaya faces any obstacles for carrying out developmental works in the villages bordering Assam, the chief Minister in his reply said “the difficulties do crop up from time to time which are resolved.”
On the measure taken up by the Meghalaya Government to expedite settlement on a top priority, the Chief Minister said “the matter has been taken up with the Assam Governmentat the level of Chief Minister as well as the chief secretary and the talks at the level of chief secretaries are expected to resume soon.”(SP News)
