Shillong, July 23: The Organisations comprising the the FKJGP, KSU, CSWO, TUR, HNYF, TUR along with people from several villages that will be affected by the New Shillong Township express their dismay at the Governments denial of their fundamental right to hold a rally protesting the New Shillong Township Project.
The organization alleged that this an act of desperation on the part of the Government. This shows that it is running scared of legitimate opposition to this anti people project. Further, the silence of the Minister Urban Affairs on the invitation by these groups for an open public debate on the issue clearly indicates that the government wishes to bulldoze through this NST project in a non transparent and illegitimate manner.
The people will not be deterred by these acts of the govt. and will reclaim their constitutional right to peaceful protest at an appropriate time.(SP News)
