Shillong, January 14: The State Level Adventure Training Camp 2013 concluded on January 12 (Saturday) at Shangpung in the presence of Mr D Rapsang, District Youth Coordinator, Jaintia Hills, who was the Chief Guest
on the occasion. The camp which was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Jowai was jointly organised by Arcadian Nature-sports Guild (ANG), Shangpung.
The Chief Guest, appreciated the hard work put in by the members of ANG in introducing adventure sports to rural areas in general and Shangpung in particular. He reminded the members that they would encounter many difficulties in their struggles but he entreat them not to falter and to carry
on with their work.
The objective of the seven-day long Camp was to inculcate the spirit of adventure, discipline and fraternity among the youth. A total of 25 young people including 7 girls from around the State were trained by instructors from ANG in various adventure sports like rock climbing, rappelling, river
crossing, flying fox, jummaring, Basic leadership programme, a seven hours day trekking and a three hours trekking at night among others at the Camp.
It may be mentioned that the camp was inaugurated on january 7 by Mr Comingone Ymbon, local MLA and parliament secretary, Govt. of Meghalaya and Mr Raphoi Iakai the Guest of Honour.
