SHILLONG: The Election department, government of Meghalaya has directed the KHADC would have to procure its own Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to conduct the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) elections scheduled to be held in the early part of next year.
This direction has come because the MDC election and the MP election might be held simultaneously, the election department has told to all the three Autonomous District Councils (KHADC, JHADC and GHADC) to procure their own EVMs for the MDC election next year.
The CEM of the KHADCMr P N Syiem also inform that an amount of Ts.1.10 cores was earmark for purchasing the EVm machines to the three District Council in the state.
In the past the District Council take the EVm machines on loan from the election department but this tie they are buying their own.(SP News)
