They may call for 100 days bandh, but will not just released them easily, DC Tura

 

Shillong, Sept 12: The indefinite bandh called by the Garo Hills State Movement Committee begins today in the entire Garo Hills without any untoward incidents reported so far.

Speaking to SP News Agency, the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Parvin Bakshi said, “All the thirteen who were arrested are already in the judicial custody and let law take its own course.”

When ask if the arrested persons will be released the DC said, “Let them call for 100 bandhs but the question of releasing them does not arise;”

The DC also informed that in the plain belt area bandh does not affect much except in Phulbari were only 50% of the shops are open.

While some local NGOs has asked the shop owners to open their shops for  people to buy their essential commodities. (SP News)
