SHILLONG, 11th JAN 2013: On 10th Jan’ 2013, at about 1705 hrs, on specific input regarding GNLA activities, BSF troops of BOP Barsora, Ex 73 Bn deployed in South West Khasi Hills distt of Meghalaya launched an spl operation and apprehended two GNLA cadres at Barsora market under PS- Ranikor, distt- South West Khasi Hills (Meghalaya) near BP No 1199/4-s. Both the cadres were identified as:-
(i) Nowel Momin aged 25 years, s/o Late Pulinus Sangma, r/o Horupukni, Ps- Mawsynram, Distt- East Khasi Hills (Meghalaya)
(ii) Arbin Marak aged 20 years, s/o Nipesh Sangma, r/o Kalachandi, Ps- Mawsynram, Distt- East Khasi Hills (Meghalaya)
The Ops party also recovered 02 Nos mobile with BD SIM, 02 Nos blank GNLA demand notes and Indian currency Rs 2,050/- from the apprehended cadres.
Subsequently, on the lead information provided by the apprehended cadres, BSF troops of 73 Bn and 44 Bn alongwith Meghalaya Police carried out joint operation in area Horupukni, PS- Mawsynram, Distt- East Khasi Hills and apprehended another GNLA cadre namely Sukumar R Sangma aged 23 years, s/o Parimal N Marak r/o Rajagaon, Ps- Mawsynram, Distt- East Khasi Hills (Meghalaya).During search, party also recovered the following items:
a) 9 mm Revolver- 02 Nos
b) 19 rounds (9 MM).
c) One mobile with one BD Sim.
During preliminary questioning, the cadres confessed to be involved in number of extortion and other activities. (SPNEWSAGENCY)
