Three militant cadres of the ANVC-B gunned down by security forces in East Garo hills

 

Shillong, March 9: Three militant cadres of the Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC-B) were on Saturday gunned down by security forces in East Garo hills district on Saturday morning.

On receiving information the SWAT team of the Meghalaya Police deployed in East Garo Hills district laid an ambush at a thatched house where the militant cadres would rest in Dobu area.

Police sources informed that there were three militant cadres inside the hut and some seven to eight were outside, after seeing the militants the police started firing which led to the encounter of three ANVC-B cadres.

Sources also informed that two Chinese small arms were recovered from the place of occurrence.

However the militants managed to escape taking advantage of the situation, police said.

After the incident police have intensified their search in the adjacent areas.(SP News)
