Shillong December07: Crying out for the intervention of the United Nations in addressing the crisis of Tibet, the shillong tibetan youth community together with the regional tibetan women association has embarked into a four day day peace rally on foot from shillong to guwahati.
The rally was flagged off by the Shillong Times Editor in chief Patrica Mukhim and is expected to end on December 10 in guwahati. Extending solidarity, Mukhim said that its disheartening to here people resorting to self-immolations. She also said that it is very unfortunate that the apostal of peace his holiness the Dalai lama is unable to touch the hearts of the chinese.
The tibetan community aghast by the self-immolations of tibetans in tibet and the ever increasing suffering has called upon the united nations to intervene inorder to stop the ongoing self-immolations, deal with the denial of human rights and pressurise beijing to life the undeclared martial law.It may be mentioned here that the Tibetans have been fighting for the prevalence of Human Rights for almost half a century and yet, no international community besides paying lip service has ever come upfront to actually put pressure on the Chinese government to follow the Human Rights protocols that are being practiced worldwide.(SP News)
