Shillong, April 29: In order to curb infiltration, smuggling and other anti-national activities from across Indo-Bangladesh borders, flood lighting have been installed along these border.
The flood lights was installed along the border boundaries of India and Bangladesh by the government so as to prevent infiltration by anti national elecment.
Interestingly flood lights were also being installed along the Meghalaya Bangladesh Border in border areas in Garo Hills and other border areas. The area is heavily populated, and the cultivation is carried out till the last inch of the border. The Indo-Bangladesh border is marked by a high degree of porosity and checking illegal cross border activities has been a challenging proposition.
Flood lights have proved to be beneficial as the bordering areas were lighted in the evening especially during the evening when the anti national elements and illegal immigrants take advantage of the dark. (SP News)
