To trace the Khasi Music is like tracing the khasi origin

Shillong, December 04: The La-Riti Foundation has organized a two day seminar on the life and work of prominent music composer of the region. In this to-day seminar they have listed seven names like Late Amiyo Lyngkshor, Late Cyril Lyngdoh and Late Fredie Cholas Kharshiing.

And the composer who are still alive toaday they have fous on the song composed by Mr Quotient Sumer,   Mr E W Kharsahnoh and Mrs Silbi Passah. The session will continue tomorrow also. The objective of this senimar is to fine out what these composers want to tell to the worlds.

It was strongly belief that to trace the origin of the khasi music is like tracing the khasi origin. In the khasi music it was seen that people when they are in sorrow or happiness they sing and when they want to communicate what they have in their mind to they sing, therefore music has become the integral party of the people.

These to-day seminar they are focusing on what thus composer want to communicate to the people. Mrs Dr Helen Giro ong of the prominent composer said that a time has come that all these song have to complied in one book in the form of a poetry, she lamented saying that people from outside the state who are there in the  North Eastern Hills University is discouraging the khasi music.

Mr P Kharshiing while presenting his paper on the like and words of Late Mr Fredie Cholas Kharshiing said that his song tell about the social like of the people and his words of his deep filling about the nature. Others composer also they composed their song what they saw on the changing world around them. The seminar will continue tomorrow. The Deputy Chief Minister Mr Bindo M Lanong has inaugurated the two days seminar at Khasi National Dorbar Hall. (SP News)
