Jowai, May 12: The 48 hours night road Blocked call by the ten dorbar shnong of Sonapur area in East Jaintia Hills begin tomorrow. Till today the ten villagers are firm in their stand the road blocked will go as schedule.
The Meghalaya State PWD has hand over from 69.2 km from Jowai to 173.2 km at Mawlibor village to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the notification in the government of India Gazette was published on the 14th August 2012.
But since then the NHAI has not taken over the road from the state government, since the road has been transfer to NHAI the government of India did not sanction any money for repair of this road, and the state government also has no fund to repair it.
The Local MLA of that area, Mr Justine Dkhar met the state PWD Minister Mr Sngewbhalang Dhar to inquired from him about the status of this road which he got the explanation that this road has been given to NHAI.
But the Local people from that area they are not accepting the explanation from the department what they want, that the road should be repair. If the government could not do so they will go ahead with the 48 hours night road blokeced.(SP News)
