Shillong, Feb 23: Smti Vanlalmuanpui and Miss Rutha Buansing of 101 Area has lodged complaints in two different police station saying that they were cheated by people from abroad in the promised that they have received some parcel by they have to pay certain amount of money to get the parcel.
Smt. Vanlalmuanpui lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that on Feb. 14, one Lawrence Mark of UK, informed her employee, Smt. Rebecca Lalmunmawii through Facebook that a parcel containing valuable items along with 16,000 Pounds will be send to her.
On the Same day, she received a telephone call from one Brenda Lalmalsawmie informing her that a parcel has been received at New Delhi and asked her to deposit money in the given account numbers to receive the parcel. The complainant deposited Rs. 1 lakh on behalf of Smt. Rebecca Lalmunmawii, however, till date she did not receive any parcel.
Miss Rutha Buansing of 101 Area, Upper Shillong lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri Police Station that on Feb. 10, one John Moore promised to send her valuable items through a parcel. On Feb. 11, she received an anonymous telephone call from New Delhi, in which the caller informed her that a parcel has been received at New Delhi and asked her to deposit money in different given account numbers to receive the parcel. The complainant deposited Rs. 81,210/-, however, till date she did not receive any parcel.(SP News)
