Travel and Tourism Bazaar

Shillong Nov 27: The three-day Travel and Tourism Bazaar organised by Fairs and Festivals with the support from the Central and Meghalaya tourism Departments kick started on Tuesday at All Saints Cathedral hall.

It was learnt that the theme state for this year’s Travel and Tourism Bazaar is ‘Andhra Pradesh’ since North Eastern part of India has always been a prominent market for attracting Domestic Tourist to Andhra Pradesh.

Commenting on the need to improve the tourism in the state, Parliament Secretary of Tourism, government of Meghalaya, P.W. Khongjee while addressing the occasion as the chief guest urged upon the people of the state to take serious steps in improving tourism in the state.

Accepting the fact that Meghalaya has a very high potential in promoting tourism however, there is lack of infrastructure. However, Khongjee said that he looked forward with the initiative from the government Meghalaya will become one of the best tourist destination ever.

Meanwhile, Special Chief Secretary of Youth Advancement Tourism and Culture of Andhra Pradesh, Archana Khan while stressing on this year’s theme said “We should not only bound in promoting tourism in our own state but should also promote tourism of other states (Interstate Tourism) also”.(SP News)
