Trinamool Congress will contest in 35 Assembly Constituency

Shillong, Dec 14: With an aimed to bring a change in the political arena in the state, another political party, the Trinamool Congress was being launched here on Friday. The purpose is to open an opportunity for the young dynamic leaders to enter into the political arena.

Addressing a press conference at the launching function which was held at the Shillong press club   Convener of the Meghalaya Pradesh Trinamool Congress Mr Ashahel D Shira that, Trinimool is going to contest from 35 seats out of 66 seats all over the state for the upcoming elections.

At present, their office is being set up at Tura and very soon, an office at Shillong will be open as at present they could not find any space.

Making the announcement here, Convener of the MPTC Ashahel D Shira said the purpose of launching this national party here is done after analyzing the fact that with more national parties, there would be more development in the state.

“We need a change in the state and with new political party, young upcoming leaders would enough space to enter into the political arena and serve the state”, Shira said.

While stating that there have been many changes in the national parties in the state like the congress and the NCP, Shira said recently NCP had suffered a blow when many of its members resigned and joined NPP, leaving the people in a state of dilemma.

“Same is with the congress where it was noticed that for the past few years, there was so much of in-fighting within the party dividing the party from within. So we stepped in with a hope to induct more dynamic youth into the party, clearing their path and giving them ample opportunities to join politics”, the MPTC chief said.

While informing about the list of candidates, , Shira said “The list will only be announced next year after the announcement of the election.”

The others who were present during the press briefing included MPTC working President Sengrak D Marak, General Secretary Pyntngen Lyngskor, vice president Wanshuwa Nongtdu and organising Secretary Stevie M Sangma.(SP News)
