Twenty five patients have benefitted out of the surgical camp conducted , NEIGRIHMS

 

Shillong, July 29: About twenty five patients have benefitted out of the surgical camp conducted by the Department of Surgery, NEIGRIHMS.

The camp was conducted for two days and was attended by large number of patients  out of which twenty five of them were successfully operated for Gall Stone and its related ailments.

According to Chief Spokesperson of NEIGRIHMS, Dr. Manuj Kumar Saikia it was iinformed that the Patients underwent Laproscopic Cholecystectomy and three patients were treated with Open Cholecyectomy.

Screening for the same started two weeks back and patients with Gall stone diseases were registered for operation. The entire cost for surgery was borne by the institute except for minimum  medicine, which had to be bought by the patients.

Dr. Manuj Kumar Saikia said “We have large pool of experts to offer quality medical services.”

The idea of this health camp was to make everyone aware about Gall Stone diseases. As incidence of Gall stone are rising all over the country so as in North East and timely surgery is the only cure for the disease.

Meanwhile, Department of Ophthalmology, NEIGRIHMS had conducted Eye Surgery Camp for Cataract and other eye operations in which many such patients could benefit from the service.

Initiative for the Surgical Camps in NEIGRIHMS was taken by Director Dr. A.G. Ahanger.

Team of Doctors for the camp comprised of Dr. Noor Topno, Professor & Head General Surgery, Dr. R. Hajong Associate Professor Surgery & Dr. D. Shyam Assistant Professor, Surgery. They were supported by Department of Anaesthesia & Critical Care  – Dr. P. Bhattacharya, HOD; Dr. Md.Yunus, Additional Professor; Dr. Nari Lyngdoh, Associate Professor & Dr. J.K.
