Union minister express his concern on the delay on contraction SAI sub-Centre at NEHU

NRAI-JFK & Union MoS Sports 9 April 2013Shillong April 10: A delegation led by  Shri. Raninder Singh, newly elected, President, National Rifle Association of India, and Shri. John F Kharshiing, Chairman, Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya,  President, Shooting Association of Meghalaya, Vice-President, Meghalaya State Olympic Association, MSOA, called on Shri. Jitender Singh, MP, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, in his official chambers,  in New Delhi, to submit a letter requesting his intervention in the re-grouping and upgradation of the SAI sub-center to a Regional Center in Shillong.

The  Union Minister was informed about the inordinate delay in completing the SAI -Sub-Center, Special Area Games (SAG) designated 40 Acres campus, as it presently has in its master plan only six disciplines (Football, Archery, Boxing, Taekowndo, Judo, and Hockey), the delegation urged the Union Minister to consider including other disciplines, such as Shooting, within the same master plan so as to value add the centers initiative for conducting National and International games.

The Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports assured to look into the matter and also expressed his serious concern as to the delay in completing the project. He informed that he will be shortly visiting NE and will personally visit the SAI sub-center at NEHU.(SP News)
