Shillong, Nov 29: The Community Food & Nutrition Extension Unit, Govt. of India, Food & Nutrition Board, Shillong celebrated the Universal Children’s Day &Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Week from 14th to 19th November 2013. The Universal Children’s Day was celebrated at Sohrarim, under Laitkroh ICDS Project, E. Khasi Hills District in collaboration with the Social Welfare Deptt. and Rotary Club of Shillong. Competitions for children in painting, drawing and cockfight were arranged. A baby show was also held.
The ICDS Week was celebrated at Mawkynrew, Laitkroh and Shella Bholaganj Project. Nutrition education and demonstration including various competitions like quiz, drawing, painting, rhyme and baby show were organised at different villages of the above named projects. The valedictory function of the weeklong programme was held at Shnongkawarunder, Shella Bholaganj Project in collaboration with Social Welfare Deptt., Health Deptt. and State Field Publicity. Dr. A.S. Syiemlieh, Medical Officer, Laitkynsew was the Chief Guest and the Sordar was the Guest of Honour.(SP News)
