Shillong, Dec 14: A Vietnamese cultural troupe known as the Vietnam National Music Song and Dancer theatre enthralled the audience at the durbar hall of Rajpati Bhavan on Friday with their vibrant and multi ethnic dance forms which depict the Vietnamese culture and society.
The programme was organised by the Indian council for cultural relations in collaboration with department of art and culture.
During the programme dances ranging from birds soaring in the skies to Vietnamese farmers toiling in the farm were few of the snippets of vietnamese life and culture were being performed. A bollywood track from the movie “Sajan Chalay Shasural” was also performed by a vietnamese musician playing vietnam’s traditional instrument.
Lauding the effort of the Vietnamese dancers, Governor of Meghalaya RS Mooshahary said, “India and Vietnam relationship is growing and initatives like these will help strengthen the ties.”
“South Asian countries shares a lot of similarities with North east India and the governments look east policy holds a lot for a sustainable and friendly future together,” he observed.
Later during the programme the cultural troupe were also felicitated by the Governor and Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr.Mukul Sangma.(SP News)
