Wansuk of Meghalaya Police reached the summit of Mount Everest

Wansuk of  Meghalaya Police who climb mount evrestShillong, May 18: It a proud movement for the Meghalaya police and the state in particular  when a women Police Constable, Wansuk Myrthong of Meghalaya Police reached the summit of Mount  Everest this morning  at 8:30 AM.

Women police  constable, Wansuk Myrthong of Meghalaya Police is one of the members of the first ever Mount Everest expedition – 2013 teamfrom North East which was flagged off by ‘The  President of India’ on 20.03.2013 in a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

She was enlisted in the Police department in 2006 and had undergone BasicMountaineering Course at Mountaineering and Skiing Institute, Indo – Tibetan Border Police, Auli, Uttarkhand and secured high grades.

She also participated in the loth North East Zone Sports Climbing Committee held at Kangla Rock Wall at Minuthong in Manipur and was adjudged the best senior climber  in the Womens’ Open Category, where she bagged two Gold Medals and one Silver Medal out of three events during the finals held on lSt, 2nd and 31d October 2008.

 She participated in the Pre -Everest expedition on Kolahai Peak (5425 Mtr) and also took part in the High Altitude Physical Conditioning to Mt. Papsura [6451 Mtr) in Himachal Pradesh organized by MMTA, Imphal.

She participated in the 1st North East Mount Everest Expedition 2013 at Aizawl organized by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Mizoram.(SP News)
