Shillong, Sept 24: With the aim to create awareness among common man and the policy makers about the ethics and responsibilities of pharmacists to the society in pharmaceutical practice, the Indian Pharmacists Revolution Yatra (IPRY) was launched on January 4th 2013 from Jantar Mantar and is now in Meghalaya.
The yatra started from Jammu & Kashmir Punjab, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Uttarpradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.
In a press conference held today at the Shillong Press Club, the convener of IPRY Amitav Joyprakash Chaudhury highlighted the various national and state issues like formation of a separate Ministry of Pharmaceuticals, formation of Indian Pharmaceutical Services, immediate amendment in Food and Drug Safety Act 2011, amendment in Drug and Cosmetics Act 1945, Employment generation of pharmacistsin NHRM/PHC & Community Health Centre, amendment in pharmacy Act 1948, amendment in NIPER Act, formation of Central Register of pharmacist done by PCI.
“We are very much ready to serve the people of Meghalaya but it will not be possible without the help of the state government,” the convener said.(SP News)
