Shillong, June 27: The Lyngdoh of Riad Nongkrem Mr Phrik Lyngdoh said that as the custodian of the Riad “ we will leave no stone unturned to protect tribal” when he said this hre refer it to the propose of land acquisition by the state government at Mawpdang which fall under the raid Nongkrem of Hima Khyriem Syiemship.
The Ri Raid according to the customary law no one is allowed to claim it or sold it to any body, the land will be use by the subject of the Hima for their agricultural purposes and to construct their dwelling house with the permission of the Sordar who obtain the Sanad from the Syiem.
As the lyngdoh of the Riad he has put the objection before the deputy commissioner of the East Khasi Hills but the answer that he revived is that he has not authority to question it. The Hima will take all necessary steps to protect the tribal land.
As the raid they have approached the KHADC who is the custodian of the tribal law, they will first seek all option with the government rules but if all these fail they will go to the higher authority for redressed of their grievances.
Lyngdoh of Riad Nongkrem said that they are not against Development but they want to know, what is the purpose, of acquiring huge land, the government should justified before the board of revenue, Land revenue committee.
The Syiem of Khyriem will soon call the dorbar of the Hima Raid to summon the sordar of Mawpdang village in this connection.(SP News)
