Shillong, June 19: Various organization today gather at the premise of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council to urged the Members of the District Council (MDC) who where in session to bring the resolution to asked the state government to stop acquiring tribal land.
Smti Agnes Kharshiing speaking to SP News Agency said that the government wants to acquire 2030 hectares of land which belong to the community. The motive of the government in acquiring these tribal is for resale to private company.
The government has already acquired 370 hectares of land for the New Shillong Township. The additional land which the government want to acquired belong to the Raid which no one can claim it, but its belong to the community.
The Demonstration that they have taken up today at the KHADC premised to tell the members of the District to take up the resolution to protest about the land acquisition that the state government is planning to do so. Kong Agens said that “we will not allowed to acquired land from the tribal for sale”.(SP News)
