Shillong, Nov 10: The present Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma in the MAU-I government before election has announced that the government will implement the Inter State Border Area development scheme.
Many people living in the inter state border with Assam welcome the move of the Chief minister since the people living in the border area with Assam are facing lot of hardship due to luck of development which compel people to have dual voting right just to avail grant from both the government.
The people of Meghalaya residing in the border area with Assam were asking the MUA-II government when this scheme will see the light of the day. After the coming of the MUA-II government people residing in the border area with Assam want the government to implement the scheme.
The move from the government of Meghalaya to have this special scheme for the people in the border with Assam stated by late former Chief Minister Mr EK Mawlong, but he could not implement the scheme since his government was topple down.
During his ( Late EK Mawlong) government the process has been move that all district having boundary with Assam, the government will place one core with all respective Deputy Commissioners in the initial stage to start with the work but when the government collapse the successive government kept the scheme in the cold storage.(SP News)
