Shillong, March 15: Along with the rest of the country, World Consumer Rights Day was also observed in Ampati at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, South-West Garo Hills on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, Binoy Bhusan M Marak, a senior citizen and father of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma urged the people of the area to be aware of their respective rights and duties as consumers. He also stressed on the need to obtain vouchers and cash memos for every purchase.
Deputy Commissioner of the SWGH Ram Singh deliberated at length on the role of the consumers while, ADC PK Boro, highlighted the aims and objectives of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 and the World Consumers Rights Day.(SP News)
