Zenith assures Govt will provide housing facilities

 

Tura, Feb 27: Meghalaya sports & youth affairs Minister, Zenith Sangma today said that government will provide affordable housing facilities to over ten thousand families in the next five years.

The budget for the project is estimated to about Rs. 2100 cr. The facilities will be offered to weaker sections of the society.

He was speaking at the launch of national youth policy in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills. The scheme will enable youths to engage in different welfare activities.

He said, “The scheme will boost the youthful energy by engaging them in different activities for upliftment of the society”.

Zenith informed the gathering that the government under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan will ensure all blocks in the state with different sports facilities, including constructing stadiums.

He also urged the youths to empower themselves with skills and knowledge.

Citing government jobs have become saturated, Zenith said, “Youths should enhance their skills and capabilities for initiating benefits from sustainable development programmes”.

Zenith also inaugurated the two day career fair and skill fest, which is being held at Rongrengre Higher Secondary School playground.

Speaking at the fair, director of employment and craftsman training, Bhupesh Hajong said, “The skill fest is aimed to enrol youths for different job oriented programmes”.(SP News)
