The IIM Shillong Celebrates the 78th Independence Day with fervor and enthusiasm

Shillong, August 16: IIM Shillong celebrated the 78th Independence Day with fervor and enthusiasm, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by our valiant freedom fighters.

IIM Shillong an institution of National Importance known as one of the most diversified management institutions in the country and celebrating the 78th Independence Day where students from almost all states and UTs in the beautiful city of Shillong itself is a moment to cherish and celebrate.

The momentous occasion started when Prof. D. P. Goyal Director of IIM Shillong hoisted the National Tricolor, which fluttered majestically at a towering height of 100 ft, symbolizing the soaring aspirations of the IIM Shillong community

The Institution standing high to Nations pride in the eastern-most corner of this magnificent country. Students, along with the IIM Shillong fraternity joined in unison to sing the national anthem, expressing their collective pride in being a part of this great nation.

Prof D P Goyal, Director IIM Shillong, addressed the gathering and paid tribute to the valiant individuals who laid down their lives for the freedom of this great nation.

He spoke about the integral role that IIM Shillong plays in contributing to the nation’s growth culminating with an optimistic call for collective effort and individual dedication to ensure India’s ascent to unparalleled greatness.

In his closing remarks, Prof Goyal mentioned, “We should always remember the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, whose contributions make us proud, and today we reaffirm our commitment to upholding the integrity and honor of our nation. May the glory of this day be our inspiration for tomorrow. May this spirit of freedom lead us all to success and glory in life.

As we stand here at IIM Shillong, an institution dedicated to fostering future leaders, we embrace the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat.’ This vision is not just a goal but a commitment—a call for each of us to contribute to transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, marking a century of independence.

He further noted that achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’ requires innovation, resilience, and responsibility, and that as future leaders, one’s accomplishments must extend beyond personal success to drive societal progress.

A special highlight of the event was the Award Ceremony honoring the outsourced staff members who tirelessly contribute to the campus’s functioning. The Chief Administrative Officer, Col. (Retd.) Dinesh Adhikari, extended his appreciation to these unsung heroes, underscoring their indispensable role in maintaining the institution’s excellence.

The felicitation was followed by a cultural program that featured touching poetry recitations and a dance and skit performance performed by the students of the PGP program, celebrating the essence of patriotism. The program concluded with a melody of ” Vande Mataram” echoing through the hall as a young girl enchanted everyone with her soulful rendition.
