Shillong, December 06:The Department of Commerce and Industry Government of Meghalaya is keen to developed the Borsora Land Customs Station but due to un availability of land the department could not do anything. If people of that area is willing to part with their land the department is ready to take up development work.
Official from the department told SP News Agency that they have earmark fund for the area if someone is ready to give land. The Department is well aware about the condition of the Borsora land customs station but they cannot do anything without land.
The Central Government is ready to fund for the development of that area, it was told that every meeting held between the state and the central government, from the central government they used to inquire about the Borsora since the port bring a lot of Foreign exchange to the Country.
The Department of Commerce and Industry at present they are taking up the work to developed the Land Customs Station at Gashwapara and Dalu in Garo Hills work are in progress. The land in that area is donated by the people of that are.
The Government of India do not give found for acquiring land that is the problem lies with the department since the land in Khasi Hills belong to the people. The Government of Meghalaya is looking forwards if people are coming to donate land so that they can developed Borsora.(SP News)
